2 cents shy of $4 in Extra Care Bucks

Imagine my surprise when I looked carefully at my CVS receipt today.

At the bottom it said:

Energizer, Spend 12 Get 4 ECB
Amount Tward this Reward 11.98
Amount Needed to Earn Reward .02

I am 2 cents away from 4 Extra Care Bucks - Yiiipes - better get back to CVS before Sunday !

So, how did this happen? I went to CVS the other night for my weekly visit and needed to get some watch batteries. I got 2 packs - one for $6.99 and the other for $4.99.

I saw no little stickies about ECBs on the watch battery rack so I assumed that the deal did not include them. How wrong was I?

When the ECB didn't print, I didn't think anything of it since I had already decided that it wouldn't. I didn't even examine my reciept like I normally do...

Then for some reason, I started really looking at it this morning when WHAMMO - I saw that.

CVS - Here I come - can't turn down $4 in ECBs just waiting for me.

Drugstore Deals and Coupon Matching 1/18-1/24

Each week, I review many blogs to determine my shopping list and coupons before hitting the stores. Many of these bloggers spend hours combing the Internet and forums such as HotCouponWorld and SlickDeals to compile their lists. Since I am all for not re-inventing the wheel, I am going to link to my favorite blogs and briefly outline my shopping plan.

Here is what I plan to purchase this week.

  • CVS - nothing - I do have some ECB's to roll so I may check and see if my local CVS has re-stocked the Soy Joy 6 pack boxes
  • Rite Aid - Kleenex Facial Tissues, Vick's NyQuil, GE Light Bulbs Soft White Longer Life 2 pk.
  • Walgreens - Mauna Loa Chocolate covered Macadamias and Dixie Napkins

CVS 1/18 - 1/24

CVS Trip Today

Marie says...

I've decided this year that if I don't need an item, it has to be a moneymaker or Free in order for me to buy it. Now this may seem like common sense to you, but I have found myself buying some things that are a good deal and I've never used them. Of course, if it is a SUPER deal, I could buy and donate the item. However, there are so many items that I can get for Free, that even money spent on low cost / unwanted items is money that I don't want to spend this year.

Here's what I got today.

2 boxes of SoyJoy bars - 6 in each box - $6.00 each - get $6.00 ECB back on each
1 bag of CVS napkins - $3.49
1 Garnier Fructis shampoo - $2.99 - get $2.00 ECB back

Coupons used
$3/$15 CVS
$3 off CVS Brand item
$1/5 Soy joys bars - 2 of these
$1 off Fructis Shampoo, Conditioner or Treatment - RP 12/04
ECBS - $0.50, $4.99, $4.49

Total (before coupons) - $19.41
Total (after coupons & ECBs) - OOP - $.24

ECBS back - $12, $2
Profit = $3.78
